Some Time for Myself: Comfort and Support for Parents of Kids
with ADD
When our child is diagnosed with AD/HD and/or LD, all the attention
from professionals is about helping the child. But we, as parents,
need help too. As well as giving our children enormous amounts of time
and energy, we may be coping with our own feelings of inadequacy,
guilt, frustration, sadness, and worry. It’s assumed that your child’s
well-being is your first concern, so this audio is a gift for you.
Take some time for yourself to become aware of all the different kinds
of stress parents of ADHD kids experience – often without even
realizing it - and learn some tips for managing it. Acknowledge all
you do everyday for your child and give yourself a pat on the back.
Learn a quick relaxation method that can help when you’re at the end
of your rope. It’s okay to stop for a while, take a deep breath, and
care for the caregiver. You deserve it! Please have a pen/pencil and
something to write on while you listen to this recording.
